Importing from Pinboard

Keepsake takes Pinboard's JSON export as it is, with nothing to convert.

Export from Pinboard

  1. Sign in to Pinboard and open Settings, then Backup.
  2. Choose the JSON export and save the file.

Import into Keepsake

  1. Open Settings, then Import.
  2. Drop the file on the page, or click to choose it.

Bookmarks arrive in your library in batches while the import runs, and you can keep using Keepsake in the meantime. One import runs at a time, so a second waits until the first finishes.

What comes across

Every bookmark keeps its title, tags, note, read-later flag, and the date you first saved it, so the library stays in the order you built it. Each imported page is archived as your monthly allowance permits, and the rest stay as bookmarks you can archive later. If a file is too large to take in one go, the import page says so before anything starts.
