Saving pages

Ways to save

  • In the app: choose Archive a link in the library and paste the address.
  • From the browser: the extension saves the tab you are reading, including pages behind a sign-in or a paywall.
  • From your phone: install Keepsake from the browser as an app, and it appears in the share sheet, so sharing a link to Keepsake saves it.
  • From a script: the REST API saves a link with a single request.

Each way lets you add a title, tags, and a note, and mark the bookmark to read later.

What an archive holds

Saving a link starts an archive of the page as it looks right now. Keepsake stores readable text without the clutter, a PDF of the whole page, and a thumbnail for the library. Images are copied into the archive, so opening a page you kept never tells the original site that you read it.

Archiving takes a few moments, and the bookmark shows its progress until the archive is ready. If a page cannot be archived, the bookmark says why, and Archive again tries once more.

Archiving again

Archive again on an open bookmark captures a fresh copy of the page. Use it when a page has changed and you want the newer version. Each archive counts toward your monthly allowance.

Editing and deleting

Edit changes a bookmark's title, tags, note, and read-later mark. Delete removes the bookmark and every file its archive stored, and asks you to confirm first.
